Facial Cleansers I’m Currently Using

There was a time when I wasn’t so concerned about my skin care regimen.  I would buy a skin care product just because I saw it being advertised on TV, without care if its the right product for my skin type. And when it comes to purchasing facial washes and cleansers, I bought  those that promise to have serious exfoliating and whitening properties. I never understood why people would buy mild facial cleansers.  I would hoard on strong cleansers and  papaya soaps and use them religiously thinking both are more suitable for my oily, acne-prone skin.

The use of products with harsh ingredients really took its toll on my skin.  I broke out a lot and now have  premature lines and wrinkles.   So sometime last year, I finally decided to made significant changes to my skincare routine by using mild cleansers and facial washes.   And true enough, I no longer get those nasty zits as often as I used to.

I use different kinds of cleansers. Why so many? Well, it’s fun trying out different brands and I can’t imagine using the same facial wash 7 days a week  for God knows how long.  Still,  I’d like to think I’m not very picky as long as its affordable, non-drying and smells great.  Anyhoo, below are the facial washes/foams/scrubs I’m currently using.

  • Etude House Peach Tea Happy Teatime  Cleasing Foam – I got this one nice-smelling foam from Etude House.  Lathers really well and non-drying.  I also love the fruity scent. Very affordable at P149.
  • Missha Creamy Latte Chocolate Cleansing Foam – Very creamy and smells heavenly.  This is my absolute favorite of the bunch.  Although it’s not as affordable as the one from Etude House, the price tag of P380 for a large tube is very reasonable.
  • Happy Bath Berry Essence Facial Yogurt – Just like Happy Teatime, this one has a really pleasant fruity smell. The consistency is thicker than my other facial foams so I really have to rub my hands well  to work up a lather.  I bought a smaller-sized tube for P250 so it’s not as affordable as my other facial cleansers.
  • Mentholatum Acnes Medicated Creamy Wash and Clean & Clear Active Clear Acne Clearing Cleanser – My skin has mellowed a lot so acne is not an everyday thing for me anymore. But I do get the obligatory zit about once a month so I keep these medicated anti-acne cleansers handy.  Both, by the way, are excellent products and really dry out my pimples.  The Mentholatum Acnes Medicated Creamy Wash is sold online for about P350 per tube while the Active Clear Acne Clearing Cleanser retails at P73 per tube.
  • St. Ives Apricot Scrub – This one’s a staple for me and I have been using it for years.  I use the St. Ives Apricot Scrub up to 2x per week to unclog pores, especially at the sides of my nose. I don’t use this everyday because excessive use of exfoliants will strip the skin of its protective layers.  By the way, a large tube is priced at P220.
Below are more pics of the products.  What about you, do you have your own stash of facial foams and cleansers?

  1. I can’t use exfoliants because my skin would flare up. I’m on the sensitive side so I usually stick with one brand of facial cleansers. Good thing your skin won’t react while using a lot of different cleansers. =)

I’m currently having a giveaway exclusive for Davao residents at http://khakiness.blogspot.com you might want to check it out =)

    1. My skin has calmed down a bit so I can use different types of cleansers. Still, I can’t use cleansers and facial foams by Ponds or L’oreal so I just stay away from both brands.
