Late last month, I went to the Davao branch of Human Heart Nature to buy a bunch of products. Why Human Heart Nature? Well, first off, I was looking to buy affordable organic skincare products. And secondly, I have read really good reviews about the brand’s skincare and haircare line.
So I went home with the following items:
+ Citrus Burst Spray Sanitizer, P175
+ Nourishing Facial Wash, P190
+ Nourishing Face Toner, P160
+ Sunflower Beauty Oil, P130
+ Purifying Facial Scrub, P105
+ Soothing Aloe Strengthening Shampoo, P130
+ Soothing Aloe Strengthening Conditioner, P145
+ Avocado and Gugo Mark Intensive Hair Mask, P280
Nourishing Facial Wash, Nourishing Toner, and Purifying Facial Scrub
I had very high hopes for the Human Nature Nourishing Facial Wash and Toner although both items are formulated for dry to sensitive skin types. Mine’s mostly oily but there are times when my skin tends too dry out so I thought purchasing a facial wash and toner that are non-drying is a good idea. But sadly, it broke me out and gave me lots of reddish, itchy bumps all over my face.
This is a big issue for me since prior to using the Nourishing Facial Wash and Toner, my skin has mellowed a lot allowing me to be weaned from using medicated facial washes and toners for long periods. I can even use different facial cleansers without having to worry about breakouts.
If not for the allergic reaction, I would’ve loved both items because they smell great and are infused with tomato extract. It’s a good thing that my brother’s not allergic to the facial wash and toner so it doesn’t feel like I threw away hard-earned cash.
As for the Purifying Facial Scrub, it works just fine. It does the job of gently exfoliating your skin but if you’re the type who wants a lot of of granules in a facial scrub, I doubt if you’ll be happy with this product. Also, people may think that the P105 price tag for a 50 ml tube is a little steep but I believe it’s still reasonably priced. A medium-sized tube of facial scrub will go a long way provided usage is kept to twice or thrice a week. It’s also worth mentioning that the size is handy enough for travel. And more importantly, this one has a non-threatening ingredient list compared to more popular brands in the market so I guess the pros outweighs the cons.
Soothing Aloe Natural Strengthening Shampoo, Soothing Aloe Strengthening Conditioner, and Avocado and Gugo Intensive Hair Mask
I have damaged hair and a very oily, dandruff-prone scalp. And for a while I stuck with Clear shampoo to keep pesky flakes at bay and commercial conditioners to keep my hair smooth and manageable. But the thing is, most commercial shampoos and conditioners use undesirable ingredients that cause more harm than good so I wanted to try products with clean ingredients.
The Soothing Aloe Natural Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner are what I consider great buys. The shampoo does a wonderful job at cleansing my hair and scalp while the conditioner keeps my hair smooth (no tangles, less breakage) without weighing it down. And did I mention that they smell great? Clean and fresh. However, I can’t really say if both help in reducing hairfall. I guess I’ll have to use it longer to see visible results.
The Avocado and Gugo Bark Intensive Hair Mask, on the other hand, is another story. It gave me huge painful zits on my scalp. And the peppermint scent is just too strong for me. So off to my brother it went. And he likes it.
Sunflower Beauty Oil and Citrus Burst Spray Sanitizer
I bought the Sunflower Beauty Oil after reading good reviews about it (e.g. clears pimples, evens out skin tone, whitens underarms). I don’t think I’ll be using it on my underarms anytime soon so at the moment, it’s my reserve bottle of makeup remover. I’m tempted to use it as a nighttime moisturizer but I have acne-prone skin so using oil as a sleeping pack doesn’t sound like a good idea.
One of my favourites from my Human Heart Nature haul is the Citrus Burst Spray Sanitizer. It smells so good that I use it as a hand sanitizer and as a room spray. Too bad a 200 ml bottle costs P175 so I have to think long and hard if I’ll repurchase or not.
Overall, my first venture into Human Heart Nature products is a mix of hits and misses. But I’m not easily discouraged from trying out other items from HHN for I believe it’s a strong brand committed to producing quality organic products. After all, serious skin care boils down to having the patience to find the right product for my skin type.
